Nicole Derse

Nicole Derse is one of the nation’s premier political organizers and consultants, with over fifteen years experience running and winning electoral and issue campaigns.

Nicole co-founded 50+1 Strategies in 2012 to bring effective and inspired community engagement to local, state and national campaigns. Nicole has worked at the national level as one of the first staffers for Obama for America, the National Training Director for Organizing for America and as a Senior Advisor on Organizing to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. She has worked on important issues across California as well, from stem cell research to affordable housing to workers rights.

In 2015, Nicole was awarded the American Association of Political Consultants’ prestigious “40 under 40 Award” for her work leading successful campaigns throughout California and across the country.

Nicole is one of the leading trainers in the country, leading trainings in 28 states and three countries. Nicole also serves on the National Advisory Board for Organizing for Action.

Nicole has a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies from Macalester College and a Master’s in Literature and Creative Writing from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English. She is a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of San Francisco’s McCarthy Center for Public Service & the Common Good.

In her free time, Nicole loves to read excellent novels, zip around on her bike across San Francisco and Oakland, and eat popcorn and drink wine with her amazing friends and family.
